Mission and History

Frustrated with the parenting books available in the late 1970s, Elizabeth Crary put her notes from teaching child guidance courses into Without Spanking or Spoiling: A Practical Approach to Toddler and Preschool Guidance. Parenting Press today has published almost 100 books. Over the course of 25 years, only four of these have gone out of print. In the publishing world, that’s a remarkable record. Read more . . .

Manuscript Submissions

Parenting Press publishes guidance and skill-building material that is new or looks at common problems in a new way.

In order for us to be interested in a manuscript it must be intensely practical for a wide group of people.

We publish material by many first time authors because they tend to have new and exciting ideas. Please read our manuscript submission guidelines.

Our Authors

Our authors are a diverse group. Some have extensive experience with children and make frequent school appearances.

Others are veteran parent educators who can keynote your next conference or delight your broadcast audience.

Many are available for bookstore visits. For more information, please see our author bios.
